Thesis abstract: The main objective of the proposed PhD project is the development of an aptamer-based biosensor for on-site and real time quantitative analysis of pesticides. Aptamers selection against pesticides of interest, their surface tethering and the development of an electrochemical platform based on screen-printed electrodes will be explored over the time course of this PhD project. Key words: Pesticides, aptamers, polymers, biochemistry, electrochemistry, biosensing, monitoring. Since the aptamer selection will be conducted in close collaboration with Novaptech, the PhD candidate will spend about a year of the thesis duration in Bordeaux France , km north of Pau.

PhD POSITION OPENING: Development of a biosensor for pesticide detection
Cancer is a major cause of death worldwide, and its diagnosis often requires invasive and expensive technics. An emerging approach is based on the detection of volatile organic compounds VOCs emitted by the body, particularly in exhaled breath, as they appeared to be cancer biomarkers. To promote these new techniques, it is mandatory to develop compact and efficient systems such as multi-sensors systems.
Progresses in Chemical Sensor. The chemical sensor is an analyzer that responds to a particular analyte in a selective and reversible way and transforms input chemical quantity, ranging from the concentration of a specific sample component to a total composition analysis, into an analytically electrical signal [ 1 , 2 ], as depicted in Figure 1. The chemical information may originate from a chemical reaction by a biomaterial, chemical compound, or a combination of both attached onto the surface of a physical transducer toward the analyte.
